The featured collection is called Imaginarium, recently presented at the international trade shows Bijorhca and White. The “hand” that designed it belongs to Giulia Boccafogli, born in 1980, an Architecture graduate, who after an experience in the interior design field, has chosen to pursue her biggest passion: jewelry and accessories making.
Since 2006 Giulia presents her creations at trade shows and temporary shops, but the turning point for the designer was in 2011, when she moved to Los Angeles for several months to develop her skills by attending workshops on metal processing and the use of alternative materials. On her return it was all clear: the future of Gulia Boccafogli is the jewelry.
In 2012 she opens a studio in Bologna together with a textile designer Emanuela Paradiso, where she creates jewellery and accessories of contemporary appeal, using one of her favorite materials, the Italian leather, which derives exclusively from unused stock funds.
Step by step Giulia builds her presence in the foreign markets, too, and meanwhile opens her own studio in Como. The designer takes part not only in various prestigious exhibitions such as “The Elegance of food. Tales about food and fashion” in Rome and “SKIN – the surface of the jewel” in Vicenza, but also in fashion events like the Turin Fashion Week, where her creations accompany the clothes of the designer Fabio Porliod.
Today the jewelry of the Giulia Boccafogli has consolidated its position in Italy and abroad, especially in Japan, Switzerland, Senegal, Turkey, Mexico, Ireland, Australia, Austria, Colombia and Dubai. The 2016/2017 collection Imaginarium is created without the bond to the seasonality. For the first time Giulia Boccafogli has used all of her major processing techniques in the same collection in order to tell a universe made of ink, sinuous graphic signs drawn from the world of mythology and art. Nymphs, animals, amulets – all united by the great love for black, embellished by bright gold flashes and natural tobacco shades.
